I am from the midwest and am curious about adult entertainment in SF. What are cover charges like, and what type of tips are suggested for someone sitting by a stage? In the midwest $2 is an average tip. Since the cost of living is so much higher here, are the tips much higher?

OK, I guess it is appropriate for a clamper to answer this one. I was at a bachelor party last year and the covers were generally between $10 and $20, Tips were singles, the more you put down, the more attention you got.

I've been to Larry Flynt's Hustler, which is fairly "upscale" for a strip club... I got in free b/c it was ladies night, but I think the cover is usually $20. We sat right at the stage, and tipped about $2 at a time - no more than $6-10 per dance, although my (lesbian) friend dropped $20+ on her favorites.

FYI, Hustler is a really nice club, and the women were very beautiful! Didn't do much for me as a straight woman, but I'm sure you'd like it.

Thanks gizmo and ecvMatt. Considering in metro St. Louis I spend $10 or less on a cover, I just can't see dropping $20 just to get in the door! Maybe if I had a lot of money, but alas, I don't.
