Hi,

It's possible that I will move to Cupertino next summer or somewhere near there. My daughter turns 5 in May, but she's already in the French equivalent of Kindergarten this year (she skipped a year). It seems that all of the Kindergarten registration takes place in the preceding Winter or Spring, but we won't even know what our permanent address is until maybe 2 months after we arrive in the area.

Is it going to be possible to get her into a public Kindergarten whenever we arrive? Does the public school in our district have to accept her or can they refuse? Will we be forced to look for a private school?

Thanks a lot!

I'm not sure the answer to your question, but you may want to post this in the San Jose forum. Somebody there may have some personal experience with the Cupertino school district guidelines.

Your daughter will be allowed to enroll in the school district whenever you move into the district, regardless of the time of year. If her local district school (the school she would be assigned to based upon home address) is filled to capacity they will assign her to a different school in the same school district. Also, if the local school is a lottery school she will be assigned to another school within the district.
