When I was a teen, I'd spent lots of weekends hitchhiking (yeah, Im a kid of the 60s/70s) between Santa Cruz and Eureka. In the years since, Ive regretted never getting north of Eureka so plan to do it this July. I'd like to make it up to Oregon (no more hitchhiking, Ill rent a car in SF) in the 5 days Ive gotten. What I havent decided is to go 101 up the coast or take Hwy 5 inland to somewhere like Jacksonville, OR ( just met a young soldier here on the Georgia Coast who convince me that would be a great place to see). Also, I should mention that Ive gotten kind of skiddish about driving near high drop offs like cliff edges and dont know if the coast this far north has high cliffs or down near sea level. Thanks in advance for all your advice and info.
By the way, I find Georgia a enjoyable enough place to live with good weather, varied landscapes and lots of outdoor stuff to do but man do I miss the Northern California Coast
I dont have a recommendation for you, but I know you will have a wonderful time......Enjoy!

One town, Trinidad, has a nice private campground with campsites for RVs. Pretty sure that they have campsites for tents too.

Emerald Forest.

Cabins in the Redwoods | Welcome

Trinidad shuts down like 9pm at night. But its a nice town. Rather clean looking.
