Thinking of buying on State St. in San Jose. Looks a bit run down in the area...is it safe? Any improvements planned or happening? Any advice appreciated!

The State Street in Alviso, or the State Street in Ghetto Glen south of Downtown?

Both are rather shady areas, though the State street in Alviso has a lot more going for it in terms of charm.

That's funny, there are two different State Streets and they both have homes for sale.. they both are pretty run down. That area of 95110 consistently has some of the lowest property values in the city due to the poverty, crime and the extremely poor quality of the housing stock. The house in Alviso is all right, it's on probably the nicest street in that little area and they are rebuilding the marina. Alviso used to have a major issue with flooding, but levees have solved that. It is fairly isolated, though. There isn't much of anything in or near Alviso except tech HQ's.
