I have checked out the maps, and read about the density and traffic, and it appears there is no way to commute from Berkeley to a daily job in San Jose. Am I wrong about this? Thanks!

It indeed, would suck. 880 is a busy freeway during rush hour, and there is no really good public transport there.

Capitol Corridor is your answer. My piano teacher commuted from Berkeley to SJSU, and that was how she did it. You can take it to the Santa Clara/Great America station and take a shuttle to the major employers. ::: The Capitol Corridor: home :::

I think sonarrat is probably right about the Capital Corridor train....as long as your connections once you get off the train work out.

But even so, that would be a long commute every day.

Why not live in the San Jose/Santa Clara area? In my opinion it is much pretttier that Berkekley and less congested. Not as may strange folk also.
I always liked the San Jose climate as it is very mild and warm. They used to grow great apricots and cherries in the area.

Just my 2 cents......

You'll get headaches from the exhaust fumes after sitting in 880 traffic for 4 hours a day.

I would not wish that commute on anyone. Seriously, try it out first before comitting to anything.
