Okay, I know that you're going to say that I should base my college decesion on what I want...that's how it's going to be. I've also been accepted to USF, USD, UCSB and UCSC, but not UCD (which is odd, since UCSB is considered harder to get into than Davis). I'm waiting on Duke (I applied for family reasons, even if I get in I won't go). I'm also waiting on Claremont-Mckenna and Oxy, I didn't really like those.
If I get into UCLA (god willing), than I'll most likley go there. But if I don't, which will probably be the case then it's my second choice, Santa Clara. I liked the school, but (I don't mean to offend), San Jose seemed kind of bland. Well, at least compared to where I live now (Encinitas...northern san diego county coast) and other college towns/cities. Will I have fun in San Jose? Does anybody have any thoughts/opinions on Santa Clara? |

if santa clara is offering everything you're looking for, go for it! there are major cities you can go to on the weekends and nightlife in surrounding cities aren't too bad. If you are looking for the party scene, then santa barbara is the school to go to!!
Everything is just a short drive away. looking for livlier scenes? hop on 280 or 101 and you're on your way to san francisco--bars, clubs, shopping, be seen and be heard, they offer it all. ![]() |

My sister & a few friends went to Santa Clara (mostly the law school), and it's a very good school... I have to agree with your perception, though, since I also think that area's a bit "bland". It's not bad really, just not as exciting as most metro areas. But like spagirl said, it's close enough to San Francisco, as well as cool towns like Santa Cruz, Monterey, Los Gatos/Saratoga, Mountain View, Palo Alto, etc. Especially if you have a car, there shouldn't be a problem finding stuff to do! Also, if/when you're ready to live off-campus, you could easily commute from some of those towns I mentioned - Santa Clara's not actually in San Jose, fyi. But if I were you, I'd also consider UCSB, which does have a terrific reputation... and it's a super cool town.
