I got three separate letters in the mail today all saying that my driver's license has been suspended for a failure to appear in court. The letters were identical, except that each one listed a different citation number. I'm positive this is an error since I have not had a ticket since 2005. It says the failure to appear was in the Santa Fe Municipal Court.
Has anyone else gotten one of these or maybe know someone that has gotten one of these? Anyone hear of some computer problems at the MVD or the court? It sounds like someone screwed something up and now I'm going to have a mess to sort out!

Could be an identity theft scam, or a phishing scheme.
What do they want you to do?
Call the court and verify the letters---do NOT contact any numbers on the letter, look it up independently and verify on your own. Do they ask anything to clear your record, like pay a fine? Watch out for that........

Yeah, something definitely seems off with this. The envelope is from the New Mexico taxation and Revenue Department and the letter head is from the state of New Mexico... not the MVD or the Court.
Oh well, looks like I now have something to do tomorrow.

The MVD is a division of the Department of Taxation and Revenue. The municipal courts, and the others as well, send citations and other offenses that would place points on your license to it. So it can apply them to your license and then let the insurance company raise your rates.
I am guessing since a lot of governmental units in the state are broke and they are trying to squeeze us tax payers for even more money. That may mean going back far, far in time to recover revenue in the form of old warrants, unpaid tickets, laspsed insurance and what not.
I wouldn't play around with this and it sounds like you are serious about the issue anyways. I bet it's something small that you overlooked a long time ago probably when you were busy or under some stress. You don't want to be pulled over by the authorities if your license is suspended. That's a big no-no.
Now, that being said, three different citation numbers does sound fishy. Further, your insurance company would have notified you of your suspension if it happened over six months ago. That's probably the interval at which it checks your MVD records.

Yeah, there were three citations, the numbers were close to each other but non-sequential. They were all within 24 numbers of each other. Really weird.

After thinking about, it doesn't add up to me either.
I'd call the local court and ask them about the violations.
If it's a scam, they'll tell you. If it's not and you truly haven't had a problem in five years, maybe you could hire an attorney and get paid!
Good luck! I'm sure everything's fine.
