Dh and I visited the Sarasota/Bradenton area in March. One day, I noticed that the weather channel said the humidity was 100%. But, when we were outside, I didn't think it was that horrible. However, the temps were barely in the 70's. We were in Parrish, so not that close to the coast that there would be an ocean front breeze.

I have thick curly hair that doesn't take well to humidity. We are in Pennsylvania right now, so we're not strangers to humid, damp, miserable weather. We have mornings that the temp will be 60 degrees and you're sweating because the air is so thick.

I guess what I'm asking is, if we move to Florida, am I doomed to have a year round afro?

OMG, that's so right on!

It's like this, right now, when you walk outside, it feels like you forgot to dry off from your shower when the humidity is in the 90's.

I freeze in the A/C from December through March...not now! Now I love my A/C.

It is what it is, tropical.

It's not that bad. Humidity feels different here. 90F with 80% humidity is tolerable not like in Pa.
Besides you get used to it.

temp 94 (and that can happen by 11am!), humidity 80-90%, makes it feel like 105-110. You will sweat. ALOT. But, you get used to it. You drink a lot of water when you're outside. You try to stay out of direct sunlight if you're working outside. The tradeoff? 70-75 in January :-)

once you get over the fact that you will sweat and sweat alot it is all good. any strenuous activities are best done early or if you can seasonally. i am planning winter projects now. kind of nice that the winter projects will not involve shoveling snow.

it is hotter up in the northeast than here now and has been for 3 weeks.

Just happened to be browsing this forum since I visited Bradenton on business recently. I'm also a meteorology buff. In practice, the highest dewpoints you'll ever see are around 80 F (yes, even in Florida)...meaning 100% humidity at that temperature. The combination of 90 F and 90% humidity is physically impossible. The overnight lows are a good indication of the dewpoint...unless the air mass is changing (i.e. front coming in), the low temp will not drop below the dewpoint.

So I don't think the humidity there is substantially worse than the rest of the South...I just think it's much more prolonged relative to the Northeast where I live.
