I agree with the life is short comment. When I stay in Sarasota I am amazed that there are so many things to get people to enjoy the outdoors like bike lanes in roads, beautiful state and county parks, kayaking, hiking, tennis, golf, beaches etc. It promotes a fun and healthy lifestyle. I keep tuning in to these forums because the chatter is fun and I keep pinching myself to get moving.

NYC had a total of close to 49 million tourists who spent $31 Billion in 2010. Bloomberg said that "Tourism is our replacement for industry." I am sure the snowbirds spend a major chunck of change which is a very good thing. The complaint seems to be that they are grumpy old farts. It may much cooler to have European, Asian, South American, and Australian families visiting the Sarasota area such as you find in NYC.
