I took your original post as light hearted and you probably intended it that way. I am a HUGE dog lover and wouldn't do anything to hurt our golden. That said, I walk him but he walks in the grass along side the road. If he poops in someone's yard I pick it up. I guess some feathers really got ruffled by the baby stroller post. Mine didn't, I thought it was a good observation. If I'm going walking for miles on end I do not take the dog, it's too HOT, he has an air conditioned house to stay home in!

They do it up here in Massachusetts too, even in air conditioned malls.

my original post was a question of curiosity. then after reading the responses i gotta think there are some dr phil crazy people out there.

i agree with you, i have a pit that i take for a walk in every morning and every evening when the asphalt is not hot. the rest of the day she is curled up in her bed, on my sons bed or out on the lanai on the lounger. at night she jumps on our bed while we are watching tv until we go to sleep and then she is back in her bed keeping an eye and ear on the house. she likes to go for a ride in the truck. she sits in the back seat an looks out the window. i refuse to put her in the bed as it is to dangerous. i dont feel the need to take her to craft fairs, farmers markets and out to dinner. i have had to put a few dogs down and its not an easy thing to do but when it comes down to it they are dogs. i will always own a dog and i realize we will lose more, but thats life.

if its a dog thats old and cant walk i can see some way of getting it out with you and i guess a stroller will do, otherwise all that comes to mind is the song from a year or two ago that goes "beer is good, god is great but PEOPLE ARE CRAZY"

you mean you're sorry you didn't get the response of people mocking the dog-stroller-folks along with you? instead they are being defended.

look, people have dogs for different reasons. Hunting, protection, companionship...I do know people in NY that have opted for dogs instead of reproducing. Live and let live. What's the big deal?

i'm going to get a special basket for my bike so I can take my dog on bike rides with me but i don't walk him in a stroller.

if you take the time to read all the responses you will see a varied opinion. we as a society are lucky that some of the extreme dog wackos dont reproduce. i dont mean dog lovers i mean the ones that are way out there that would mortgage their house to save their dog kind. its only a big deal if you want it to be a big deal. for me its just a discussion and opinion.

Treating dogs like children is more than a little creepy to me, and I'm a die hard animal lover.

i took it a little less light-heartedly from you, sorry - it's hard to get tone in forum posts sometimes. I don't want to make it a big deal and some people really are too bonkers over it all (my BFF won't travel to visit me because she "can't leave her babies" ...the dogs!) so, I GET it lol I just thought you posted it so we'd all say "yeah those people are crazy hahaha" which I never really think is too nice. I've seen people wearing dogs in the doggie "baby" carriers that's over the top to me!

It's only a matter of time when we'll see cribs and potty chairs for dogs.

A very wise person must have said that. I don't like beer, however. (she writes while sipping on a glass of cabernet)
