Looks that it could really impact us...just load up in case of power outages..it doesn't look to be headed for us with anything too serious. Maybe just some strong wind and heavy rain. Always keep your eye on things and BE prepared just in case. Oh goodie, I'm excited. The potential of a hurricane day yippee!!

from personal experience what's the most important things to have on hand? I've seen the handouts but I'm curious to know if there is anything that wouldn't be on the gov't recommended "hurricane kit" lists.

this has me nervous!

Since we have a well it was recommended to us to have LOTS of bottled water and to fill up that huge bathtub with water, we can use it to flush toilets. I have NO experience in this yet just passing on what we were told.

Check out the Weather Forum sub category Hurricane here on City-Data. The most accurate model... which is the European model... go figure.... now has it going into TX/LA Border. I think this is probably right.... every update on the storm keeps moving it more westerly.
