I have noticed lately that a lot of posts complain about the traffic here. However, when was the last time that there was a non-accident related traffic jam? Maybe its because I'm used to worse, but what's your opinions?

They're not really complaining about traffic. They're complaining about drivers.

While it is true that drivers here are either way too slow and passive or way too fast and aggressive, I don't think it's as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

Try San Francisco in the rain. Try the DC Beltway...anytime. Try the Cross-Bronx Expressway after you pay your life insurance premium.

This is a breeze.

Anywhere within the 301/41 intersection from December through April. Traffic is at a standstill.

I have to disagree. The one by the ford dealership is free moving.

I think being used to worse has a lot to do with it (or being in the area before the boom). Even in snow bird season I never thought 41 was that bad, just if you tried to go somewhere touristy (like crossing the Ringling Bridge while an art or car show was going on, or heading out to Siesta Key). That wasn't happening.

I was in a barbershop in Southside Village near the hospital/mall on 41 and this old man came in complaining about the traffic from Osprey, a route I had driven 5 minutes before from Clark Road and maybe had to stop at 3 lights. He must have been thinking back to Sarasota in the 1920's or something.

Bingo.

Traffic issues, ha! Try the Parkway from Brooklyn to LI, the Beltway in DC & I-95 between Boca & Miami; that's traffic!

I'm not just saying this, really, but can you guys imagine how some of these folks would cope with NYC or DC or LA traffic? I mean, this is Shangri-La compared to what I have dealt with.

We have volume here, too, during "season", with roads that are not made for that kind of volume.

However, while it may move slow, it is very very rarely anywhere near as bad as traffic in NY/D.C/LA, etc.

And when I am stuck in slow moving traffic on 41, or on one of the Keys, I look up into the sky & see that brilliant blue sky, sunshine, birds & flowers outside the window, and smile at how nice it is to be sitting there & enjoying The Suncoast.

i aree we do have increased volume during the bird season. but one thing is consistent is the 2 or 3 idiots that get side by side going half the speed limit and refuse to yield and move over. not sure if its stupity, no sense of what they are doing or they have appointed themselves honorary sheriffs dept traffic control deputies. cant imagine they drove like that before getting here.
