I didn't have a survey when I had my shed built, so the shed guy drew an approximate one based off surrounding properties. If the shed is far enough away from the property lines, charlotte county might let that fly (I'm in sarasota county).

We use Strayer or DMK for surveying though.

If you have your survey from when you bought your home that will suffice. You shouldn't need a new one

I think he is like me, and didn't have a survey done when he bought. If I didn't feel the need to survey the property before I purchased the home, I wasn't about to get one just to build a shed! I told the shed guy to work it out lol.

Contact the City of North Port Building Department to see if they have one on file from when the house was built. I don't know the age of your home, but some of the newer homes have them on file from the builder. If there isn't one, you may need to get a new one for the shed permit.

Contact a few local shed builders to see if they can do it without a permit. Robin Builders has sheds on the corner of US 41 and Toledo Blade. You can also try Teds Sheds. Here is the link for the City of North Port Shed Permit application: http://www.cityofnorthport.com/modul...documentid=916

Here are some suggested survey companies:
Shremshock Surveying 941-423-8875
Walker Surveying 863-244-9609
Phoenix Surveying 941-629-6801

Thanks all, I used Shremshock Surveying, prompt and very professional. The county sent me a drawing they had for the septic system when the house was built but North Port wouldn't except it, I guess it wasn't expensive enough...
