Can anyone recommend a Tuscan or Mediterranean designer or architect who does well ON A BUDGET? We love what George Merlin does, but want to explore all other options.

depends on your idea of budget. If you're looking for a designer, I take it to mean custom building, and that does not include a budget.

The words "on a budget" seem to be tripping some people up and perhaps I used the wrong terminology.
George Merlin has an outstanding reputation and has designed some of the most beautiful houses in Sarasota. I'm sure he comes with a price and I am simply asking the community if anyone knows of an architect who has a similar style yet might not be as pricey?

Most of the well known builders use Mediterranean as their go to style. The also do design-build packages that don't cost you any more than one of their stock models. Is there some reason you don't want to use one of their stock models? They can be pretty spectacular.
