Hello,
We will be new to Venice are and would appreciate any opinions on the service and efficiency of the pharmacies in the area before we transfer our prescriptions from cvs in n.c.
Any suggestions? Thank you!

By the way, it does not have to be Walgreens, Walmart or CVS. Any local pharmacy you like in that area, perhaps in the Publix grocery store? We will be near Jacaranda and Venice Avenue area. Thanks for any input, I will be checking back for replies throughout the next few days so your entry will not go unread!

I can't answer your specific question but I'd advise checking with your ins provider. Our ins provider uses CVS as their prescription manager pharmacy. If we go elsewhere - it's on us.

Thanks for the heads up on that, but it's not an issue for us, we can get our prescriptions anywhere, I have just found some pharmacies are much nicer places to go than others. In different areas, people seem to prefer Walgreens over CVS, for example, for the service.

We use Walgreens on Venice Ave since we have all of our prescriptions there up north. They can call you when the prescription is ready if the doctor sends it over direct. They also have a drug plan that discounts some of the drugs if you don't have insurance coverage. My only complaint is the wait if you go direct from the doctors office to the drug store. It can take a while for them to get the prescription and then fill it.

We like the Target pharmacy...the target is in the shopping center at 41 and Jacaranda.

One recommendation if you travel a lot....use one of the big chain pharmacies like CVS or Walgreens, which will make things a lot easier if you ever lose your meds or run out while you are traveling. My mother was on vacation with us, and she accidentally dropped about half her seizure medicine in the bathroom sink while the water was running. This was at a beach house in a pretty remote town.

We called the CVS in the next little town about 12 miles away; they contacted her CVS and she got her meds replaced right away. Yes, in know that other pharmacies can make that same call, but it seems like keeping it in the same company would make things easier.
