It's the weekend and the forecast includes a good chance of rain, but they are saying it won't rain all weekend so I am going with the theory the glass is 1/2 full and people will be able to take advantage of the events going on in the Bradenton - Sarasota - Venice area this weekend, including the following:
FRIDAY
Hernando DeSoto Childrens Parade & Party --- floats, bands, clowns, various organizations participating as well. Parade starts at 10 am at the Manatee County Fairgrounds in Palmetto, ends up at Sutton Park where the after parade party starts at 2 pm with fun activities for the family.
Sarasota Jungle Gardens is offering Jungle Trails & Bunny Tails --- egg hunt (bring your own baskets) for the little ones, petting zoo, photos with the Easter Bunny and regular Jungle Gardens events. 10 am - 3 pm. Children $6.50 ages 4 - 16, children under 4 get in free, adults $17.99.
Free Friday Music Night --- Venice's Centennial Park by the gazebo, 7 - 9 pm, bring lawn chairs.
SATURDAY
Sarasota Farmers Market -- downtown at Lemon & Main, 7 am - 1 pm.
Central Sarasota Farmers Market -- corner Proctor & Beneva, 8 am - 1 pm.
Bradenton Farmers Market -- downtown historic Bradenton, 9 am - 2 pm.
Venice Farmers Market -- downtown Venice, 8 am - noon
Baltimore Orioles vs Boston Red Sox at Ed Smith Stadium, 1:05 pm.
SATURDAY EGG HUNTS:
Sandbar Restaurant on Anna Maria Island --- also egg roll, bonnet contest, bring your own basket. 9:30 am - noon.
Lakewood Ranch --- at Greenbrook Adventure Park, for LWR residents/children ages 2 - 13. 9:30 - 11:30 am, also a petting zoo, face painting, etc. $3/child, $5/adult, children 2 & under get in free.
Siesta Key --- by Access Point #5, children ages 1 - 6. Each child will receive a grab bag & stuffed toy. $10/child to participate. Also games & activities.
Venice Centennial Park --- bring your own baskets, 9:30 - 11 am.
Big Truck Day & Egg Hunt --- at Twin Lakes Park, east of I-75 on Clark Rd, 10 am - 2 pm. Egg hunt (bring baskets), also lots of large trucks on display to see and climb around on. Food concessions available.
SATURDAY & SUNDAY
Downtown Sarasota Spring Fest Arts & Crafts Show --- at Five Points Park, 10 am - 4:30 pm.
Sarasota Rotary Fine Arts & Craft Festival --- works by sculptors, painters, jewelry makers & other craftsmen. 10 am - 5 pm. Hillview Ave. Adults $5, children 12 & under get in free.
Last weekend for the Sarasota County Fair --- Sarasota county fairgrounds on Ringling Ave.

Coquina Beach Market -- what better place to hold a farmers market/flea market than at the beach? 10 am - 4 pm, south end of Anna Maria Island.
