There is a waiting list to get on the Sarasota Housing Authority Section 8 (Choice Voucher) program - and that waiting list is now closed (the SHA is currently not accepting new applications). However if you are currently already on the Section 8 program in a different city, then there is a good chance you could move to the Sarasota-Bradenton area and use your Section 8 voucher here. This aspect of the Section 8 program is called "portability". Contact your case worker to investigate further. But note that there is currently a rental shortage in Sarasota, thus most of the rental prices here are above what the SHA will approve for a Section 8 rental.
As an aside, I just came across the following article and Trump is considering budget cuts to HUD (including Section 8) in order to spend more on the military:
Trump Mulls Cutting $6 Billion From HUD to Fund Defense
If this comes to fruition expect even longer Section 8 waiting lists, reduced $ amounts Section 8 participants are allowed to spend on rentals, and possibly even people in good-standing getting "kicked-out" of their rental and the Section 8 program.

wondermint2 thanks for telling me about that. I thought I had seen something in that way. Maybe I better sit tight and see what will happen. I have an excellent Land lord right now and don't want to end up homeless.
