23 yr old looking to get down to Sarasota, need advice (Cape Coral: apartment complexes, how much)

Hey everyone, I am 23 year old guy from long island. I may have a job down in fort myers and i was wondering what you all thought about living in Sarasota but working in Ft. Myers. I see that Sarasota is about an hour away from Ft. Myers, which is not that bad as the commute in NY is even worse. I heard Sarasota there are more and more yound people. Where are the better areas to live in, I am looking at a few different apartment complexes right now that look great but i would like to know the outlying areas as well. Thanks everyone!

I would not commute from Sarasota to Ft Myers, not with these gas prices, you've got to be out of your mind....

If you get paid over 200K a year, that might be a possibility, but then again, why in the world would you want do that anyway???

But then again, i'm spoiled rotten, my commute to work is only 20 min. I refuse go over it....

Why would you live in Sarasota if your job is in Ft Myers? That drive would be insane! Look at areas that are closer to where you work. Check out Cape Coral you may find that to be more your style. My cousin relocated to Bradenton at 22, she went where her job was. After you get settled you can always look for a job in the area you want to live. She relocated to Sarasota just last week..What is it about Sarasota that you like so much? Ft Myers and the Venice area may suit you just fine

ugh- bad commute!! esp with these gas prices! and at 22 , not sure how much you'll like it, with being from NY. i'm 34, from chicago, and REALLY miss the city, and found its not nearly as young here as i'd thought it would be.

well its not like i have my heart set on sarasota. haha i just heard that is where a younger crowd is.

You'd be better off in North Ft. Myers...perhaps Estero.
