Win Chevrolet Properties has bought a 39,000-square-foot office building in Bradenton.

The California investor breaking into Florida paid $8.8 million for the property at 5413 State Road 64.

The building is currently occupied by cable and internet provider Spectrum. It was previously owned by a Sarasota investor who paid $4.6 million for it in 2018.

The deal was the second deal brokered by SVN Commercial Advisor Group’s Mike Migone for the California buyer. The other was much larger and one of the most notable transactions in Southwest Florida last year.

BRADENTON, Fla. - When kids walk through the doors of "We Rock the Spectrum Bradenton," they run to kick their shoes off.

"They’re excited. Their eyes just light up when they see all of the different things that they can get on, and they can play," said Wanda Pluitt.

Pluitt helps families check in, and no one is turned away.

The indoor playground is open to all and focuses on giving children with autism a purpose to play.

"A safe haven that they know they are safe, they’re not being judged, and it gives the parents a feel of security for them and their children," said Pluitt.

There’s a calming room for children to have space when needed. Each piece of play equipment, from a zipline to multiple types of swings, helps strengthen children.

'This is a good deal': Rubber trail draws visitors to Robinson Preserve in Manatee County

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOEgIi9gMu0

Upgraded from seven to 22 feet in width, the 1.6-mile fully aligned rubberized trail system has become a big attraction.

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — Manatee County leaders have embarked on a mission to enhance the outdoor experience for residents and visitors and expand green spaces in the county.

Some upgrades have already happened at the Robinson Preserve which will eventually include miles of trails linking to area counties.

At the 420-acre preserve located in North Bradenton, an ongoing 150-acre expansion and restoration process includes efforts to reestablish creeks along the lower Tampa Bay for marine life, especially fish hatcheries and recreational activities to thrive.

Construction on waterfront Ritz-Carlton tower begins this summer

For full article:

https://www.yourobserver.com/news/20...carlton-tower/

More construction is on the way in The Quay Sarasota as Palm Beach-based developer Kolter Urban is set to begin development of the second installment of Ritz-Carlton Residences on the marina-facing Blocks 7 and 8.

The first of a planned three-tower project will add 78 luxury condominiums to The Quay, and with the recent announcement by Miami-based Property Markets Group to build One Park on Block 1, only Block 9, which is also owned by PMG, remains to be either planned or developed.

Kolter Urban has recently completed construction of Bayso, and still under construction is Cordelia by Lennar Multifamily Communities on Blocks 2 and 3 along Tamiami Trail, a 240-unit luxury rental apartment development with 13,000 square feet of ground floor retail space.

Of the three-tower campus planned by Kolter Urban, only the South Tower will be located within The Quay. The developer plans to build two more towers at the location of the Hyatt Regency hotel and its parking areas along Boulevard of the Arts. Kolter Hospitality acquired the property in May 2022 and will continue to operate it as a hotel until it begins redevelopment for its West and East towers.

New Urbanism Luminary Andrés Duany to Sarasota: ‘You’re Not a Little Town’

“If you say, ‘I like small-town Sarasota,’ you’re wrong. Get a suit and stop wearing short pants.”

For full article:

https://www.sarasotamagazine.com/hom...-city-planning

Charismatic, opinionated, insightful and just plain funny, Andrés Duany, 74, took the stage Wednesday night at the Art Ovation Hotel in downtown Sarasota to speak to a room of roughly 500 city officials, architects and residents seeking his insight.

The people who showed up wanted to know, during a time of rapid transformation for the city, where Sarasota is headed when it comes to development and design. And despite delivering some potentially controversial commentary, Duany likes what he sees. “I would live here,” he says.

A resident of Coral Gables who splits his time between there and France, the New Urbanist planner, architect, author and founding principal of DPZ CoDesign was hired by the City of Sarasota in 2000 to revamp its building code and downtown master plan.

He’s considered one of the founders of the New Urbanist movement, which sidelines suburban sprawl and supports density, well-proportioned architecture and walkability. Some of his early ideas for the city have since come to fruition, like paid parking, a major grocer in the downtown area and a brick-laid Lemon Avenue with wide sidewalks.

SWFL contractor arrested after failed home build

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBgitFZFXxQ

A southwest Florida contractor has been arrested and now faces multiple charges, including theft.

WINK News detailed some of the complaints against Jeffrey Burch and his company, First Choice Home Builders, last April during an exclusive investigation. Now, Burch will have to answer for himself in court.

A 9-page affidavit from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office details the accusations Burch is facing from one customer. He’s been charged with two felonies: one is a financial crime specific to contractors and the second is theft.

For full article:

Sea level rise and climate change are rarely mentioned in the official discourse of the state government in Florida. Nor does our government usually frame new construction as a problem or challenge. But agriculture in this state is under tremendous pressure, and reality is beginning to creep in. A webinar held today by an environmental group featured a Manatee County cattle rancher and highlighted University of Florida research about the future of agriculture in the state. Our news team listened in.

Event is free and open to the public

MYAKKA CITY — East Manatee Preservation is excited to announce a Panel Discussion on the Future of Agriculture in Manatee County on Saturday, February 10, from 3-5 PM at Dakin Dairy Farms (30771 Betts Road, Myakka).

The landscape of Manatee County is changing. As growth expands eastward in our county—one that once boasted the second most agricultural land in the state—we are proud to have partnered with one of Florida’s last local dairy farms to host a conversation with farmers about the future of agriculture in Manatee County. We’ve brought together a panel of distinguished local farmers and ranchers who represent the different sectors of our county’s agricultural heritage.

Our confirmed panelists include Jerry Dakin, Jim Strickland, and Gary Reeder.
