My family is wanting to move to Savannah around Feb and we are doing as much research as possible before the move. We just don't know where to look. Our situation is as follows: We are self employed and work out of the home, our daughter is 16 and is home schooled but will be looking for a job when we move. Our wish list for our home would be to have water-ocean access from our home for a boat. We currently live in an area that is extremely high drama for my daughter. The local kids don't like her because she wants to excel in school and and likes to dress conservative nice (not having her attributes hanging out or going out in public in her pj's) when we moved here we had no idea it was like this. We just want to make sure that we move to the right area that the crime is not out of control and my daughter can have a social life. We have been looking at Wilmington Island but would like so advice from the people that down in the Savannah area. We appreciate any guidance in this.
Thanks

My wife would like around 225,000 but I would like around 150,000. We would like a 4 bedroom with a 2 car garage.

Saltwater waterfront or marshfront property will be more than you want to pay.

You are not likely to find a 4 bedroom house with a 2 car garage for around 150,000 unless it is in a run-down section of the county.

Your daughter will have a problem finding a job until she gets a about 18 years old. What does she want to do? She needs to learn how to ignore the others. Exceling in school is hard to do when you are home schooled. If she is planning on going to college, we have two large ones here, Her social life might have to wait until then.

If we take out the water access then what areas would be good to move to? Also if we bump our budget to around the 200,000 to 225,000. She is looking to get into either real estate sales or vacation sales like time shares or vacation getaway sales. I think that is the best way to describe them. Where she works in a facility and people come to hear about the different vacation and/or time share packages.
Thanks

Time shares are dead and have been for about two years. Hilton Head was the time share destination but it's collapsed in recent years. Vacation sales there might be a small market for it out on Tybee. As for kids Fast food is their best option but it's a tough job market for unskilled workers right now.

I live on the southside in Coffee Bluff, there is a marina with a boat launch and slips which rent at around $10 per ft a month. You can find 4 bedroom homes starting at around $200k in this area.
