Hey everybody!
I'm moving to Savannah very soon and am seeking some insight/advice. A quick note: I've been on here for some time, and I know that some (or many) users are getting tired of OPs not bothering to read responses/follow up/search the existing threads for answers to the same question- but I haven't found the information I need regarding my particular case, so here goes!

I'll be starting out at the relatively new building, One West Victory, before I can relocate to a place more of my choosing. Based on everything I know about Savannah, I don't feel entirely at ease about the location of the building. Basically I'm hoping that somebody can provide some reassurance. I've lived in both the big city and in the midwest, so I don't think it will be anything I haven't seen before. (But in the literal sense, I still haven't seen it). Thank you for your replies! I promise to follow up lol

I would live there. It looks very nice. There is crime downtown, no denying it, but the students, tourists and residents move about the city without incident most of the time.
Just use common sense and street savvy, and you'll be fine.
Lock up your bike.
Lock your apartment
Don't leave items in plain sight in the car.
Stay off the streets after midnight
Stay in well lighted, populated areas at night
Could you get robbed or shot at? Yes, but your odds for living downtown happily are good if you use common sense.

I've never heard of any crime there, but it's only been open for a year. There have been incidents within a few blocks of there, but that's pretty much going to be the case anywhere in any city. No place is completely 100 percent safe. It's a secure community with on-site garage parking, paid guards and cameras. You'll be fine.

Thanks guys. My concern is that Montgomery and Jefferson are right next to it, and I see those being cited frequently as undesirable. I don't need to be going out jogging after dark or anything, but I'd still like to feel reasonably comfortable driving out of the area/into the area (as opposed to, "please don't let my car get shot at before I make it out of this neighborhood).

My office is on Jefferson. Depending where on the street you are, it can be high rent. Jefferson and Montgomery run north/south. Savannah is a north/south city in the sense that the further north you go, the higher the rent as you approach the historic district. Victory (a major east/west artery) is on the south end of Jefferson, and the general area you're talking about is basically right on the border between high-rent Ardsley Park and low-rent Cuyler-Brownsville. One West Victory is a reclaimed property, having at one time been industrial in nature. It's a brand new development, with lots of finer touches. Security is good, and I would feel plenty safe going there for a meal at the Florence. I also think you could go out jogging after dark - just hang a right out of the front door and jog in Ardsley. Just wear reflective clothing - Savannahians aren't the best or most observant drivers.
