OK, I'll admit it tastes a lot better than it used to. But this is still hard to believe.

Doesn't say much for the rest of the state does it?

I was in Boston and Cooperstown NY this past weekend and was amazed at the quality of tap water there.

Probably all the chemicals Augusta industries dump in the river is killing all the crud. Rincon is doing a good job treating effluent too which finds its way into Abercorn Creek.

Atlanta tap water is leaps and bounds tastier than Savannah's. The people that did this "survey" must have been on drugs.

Disgusting!

Since 2005 Effingham County has dumped over a billion gallons of Savannah River water treated by the Savannah I&D for flushing county maintained water lines because it will develop smell like rotten eggs if the disinfectants (chlorine and ammonia) are not kept circulating in the water lines. I would be reluctant to drink any Savannah water without the chlorine smell. This has cost Effingham over a million dollars since being forced by the EPD to buy water from the City of Savannah. It continues today at about 7 to 10 million gallons a month. Residents were warned not to use the chloramine treated water in aquariums because it may kill pet fish.

New York City has some of the best-tasting tap water (and Pittsburgh often wins taste tests). Savannah has always had some of the worst-tasting water on the planet. I've always found the tap water in Atlanta, Athens and the three fall-line cities to be superior to Savannah's swamp brew. Something must be up with this survey -- sounds kind of fishy (swampy AND fishy).
