Personally I think all of Bay Street from I-516 to East Broad needs to be streetscaped.

When the City of Savannah initially approved the Downtown Streetscape Improvement Project, it only addressed Bay Street from East Broad to MLK, but now they're expanding that phase to include West Bay Street between MLK and Warner Street.

"It was recognized West Bay between MLK and the viaduct is a key gateway into the City of Savannah and to our downtown," said Bridget Lidy, Director of City of Savannah Tourism Management and Ambassador Development. "Because of that, the Mayor and Council approved moving forward with developing a conceptual plan for that area."

I think you posted the wrong link but that's OK!

As for West Bay, it's currently being windened from the viaduct to 516 (with part of the new road going on the south side of the long stand of old oak trees where Feldwood Homes used to be) so it stands to reason that some kind of streetscaping will take place.

My bad lol.
Here's the proper link:City of Savannah to expand Streetscape Project

As far as the current widening, I certainly hope some streetscape elements will be added. BTW, the city needs to get rid of Yamacraw Villlage. Getting rid of that place would certainly open up more of the westside to development.

Hey remember when I said that? I was tarred, feathered, and a whole lot more. And I specifically mentioned how to relocate it into a new complex with social services built in to provide better not only for surrounding community but the residents most of all.

No worries. The rich developers used it to get some sort of tax credits for building in a 'poor' or diverse community or whatever. Now that they have their hotels you can bet Yamacraw is on the chopping block. Kessler won't tolerate hobos peeing on his new fancy place. The City will oblige, because tourists are the most important constituent. On the other hand, maybe one day I will feel safe going to City Market to watch music once again.
