I sure hope that everyone aboard the plane and on the ground are okay.

I know one of the C-130 pilots so I was worried. She is fine, but of the 5 on this plane, 2 are confirmed dead.

I heard there were 9 on the plane and at least 5 are dead.

After seeing the surveillance video that captured the plane nosediving into the ground today, and seeing the pictures of the resulting wreckage, I have no idea how anybody could have survived. It was a C-130 cargo plane, and had just taken off. It's eerily similar to the 747 cargo plane that crashed at Bagram in Afghanistan back in 2013. In that crash, fully loaded with fuel and cargo, loads suddenly shifted significantly during takeoff, breaking free from their tie-downs. Of course, I have no idea how they were loaded on that doomed plane today, but for a plane that just took off to have such a catastrophic failure, it's got to be either structural failure of something on the plane, or a similar failure of cargo tie-downs, causing significant cargo weight shift from which the plane couldn't recover.

Sadly all nine on board succumbed to their injuries. It's really amazing no one on the ground was killed.

I had not even seen the footage & immediately though about the Bagram crash. The C-130 flight record is one of the best, & it has 4 engines & only needs 1 to be able to return in an emergency.

The plane was on its way to the bone yard in AZ. Sadly, it would have been its last fight.
Strange that they either aren’t sure who was on it, or maybe they aren’t prepared to say yet. It was a miracle that nobody on the ground was hurt. It could have crashed onto homes or schools or businesses so easily.

They know who was on it ... they're just not saying out of respect for the families, because only 2 bodies (as of last night) had been recovered. Presumably the others were burned beyond recognition?

Several witnesses interviewed on the news last night said the pilots deserve credit for bringing the plane down on the highway and not hitting any cars or buildings. That nobody on the ground was even hurt truly is a miracle.
