I'm pretty excited. I get to spend New Year's Eve there. I hear there are fireworks at the riverfront, and I'm just guessing there will be a few bars open. Other than that, is there anything special going on that you like to do?

I usually don't go to any of the big events on New Years. I don't like getting out and mingling with the once-a-year drunks...that's why I didn't post anything.

The fireworks out on Tybee are nice, but it's a long way from Pooler.

I went there a few years ago and had a blast. There were fireworks over the river and a "few bars" as you put it. Plus, the city was still decorated beautifully for the holidays. Just make sure to have dinner reservations made by....yesterday if you want to eat at a popular resteraunt, but that goes for every town on New Year's I suppose. I intend to get back there one year for New Year's as I had that much fun. This time, though, I will make sure to not have breakfast plans the following morning. :-)

Here is a link from a previous post. It's the New Years question by another poster that I answered..

Oh ellie, maybe you should get drunk more often? Just kidding.
Even though we don't drink much, we still like to be a part of the bustle sometimes. We live in the middle of nowhere and, apart from the crowded mall at Christmastime, there is no place festive in our real life.

You should plan to simply take a walk around the Historic District that evening and see what's going on. You can do that almost anytime and enjoy the festive bustle.
