Not like the movies, but head trauma can result in cognitive changes with increased awareness/abilities in some areas less in others, as well as radical personality changes. The L-dopa experiments that were the basis for "Awakenings" and the earlier Ernest Borgnine movie and a few TV shows did show transient increases in cognition and awareness in the some patients.
The more common effects in real life are related to stresses that are so persistent and pervasive that the brain is forced to reconfigure. SOME psychotic breaks re-integrate so that the individual becomes much more insightful and powerful. There are a number of famous poets and writers and even scientists who have gone through this.
My mom insists that when my aunt was in high school she was kicked in the head by a horse and she spoke French for 2 weeks after, but my mom has never let the truth get in the way of a good story!

I was reading somewhere we as humans don't completely use our brain capacity and if did we would have super-intelligence.
Ah. That has pretty much been debunked. Most of the brain is used, it is just inefficiently used and a lot of the connections are meaningless in the greater scope of intelligence even if they have use in choosing the best hamburger joint or road to Disney. The good thing is that the brain is much more plastic than hardwired and can be retrained.
