Everything ever posted, not only on social sites, stays on Internet servers forever and is searchable.

Yeah, ya gotta think about long term ramifications when you type words.

If you use "wirebowl" on lots of other sites, then a larger data base/dossier has already been created.

Basically, you've been "assimilated...."

I don't understand why you can't de-activate accounts. Even if for some reason you want all contributions to remain on your site forever, users' should at the very least have the option to disconnect their account and overwrite any potential PII such as email addresses, etc.

This is a security issue. Websites can and do get hacked.

That is why you should use a throw away email account for any sites like this one. As for posting PII on forums, you shouldnt do that anyway. If you do realize that you have done that and you can no longer edit your post, then I would message a moderator and any decent forum would delete that part of your post.

And, it is a good thing that CD provides all necessary information and makes the point very clear when one joins, so people rightfully have the opportunity to make informed decisions.

Simply go into the settings and change the email address to a bogus one. I can't think of any other PII that would be in my CD account. I just looked at my profile, and there's literally nothing there.

I think the OP may be worried that they posted personal information at sometime.
