I have a job that allows me to work from anywhere where there is free wifi access available. My laptop is old though and needs a power supply/outlet. So once I get a new laptop, I can work from parks etc... and would like those recommendations too.

Till then, does anyone know places that are good for working from where there is free wifi and a reasonable supply of outlets? I am kind of bored with my local small Starbucks and my local Barnes & Noble.

Some places only give you one hour so please leave out those.

I always buy stuff from the places I work at so that is not an issue.

Thanks!

Thanks! I had thought of the large Seattle Central Library, but its a drive from Bellevue where I live so I won't go every day. Any other large libraries with free wifi? I like crowded places or places where employees from Google/Amazon/Nintendo etc... would work from so I can make some tech savvy contacts.

Does anyone here work for hours on end from offsite and not from their home? Anyone work from the public library for hours at a time?

The library is GREAT. The connection is fast as anything, and you get to see all of the "colorful" Seattle people.

Seriously though, when I was studying for the Bar Exam, I spent many hours on the tenth (top) floor. It was absolutely great.

I don't know too much about the East Side, but I would have to assume that the local library there would have wi-fi...no?

I'm from the south east and I always envisioned Seattle (being IT heavy in comparison) as having near abundant wifi. I've experimented with those sites like FourSquare and Gowalla and there isn't hardly anything on the grid here in terms of wifi. Is it hard to find wifi in Seattle also?

Here's an excellent resource for free wifi in most cities.

Thanks mishigas!

I have gone to the loval library in Crossroads Mall, but the outlets are usually occupied and the internet is somewhat slow. Will got to Seattle Central Tenth floor today. Will try Bellevue library later this week Ira.

Any wifi spots near Amazon headquarters (Ballard?) where there are many outlets?

Interesting link Bill.

You might want to try the one on Newport Way. I think it might be in the middle of a remodel right now. I don't know if they are closed because of it, but you should probably check. There's very few people who use the Wi-fi there, but it's a lot less crowded than the one in downtown Bellevue.

Okay. I like crowded places though. Went to the Bellevue branch today instead of Seattle Central, and I am amazed at how many outlets there are here. The coffee vending machine downstairs is great too. $1 coffee plus I can work on large tables with free wifi.

Thanks Ira!!
