I lived in Fremont for a few years and loved it. It's changed a lot since then.

Magnolia. Where I lived out the first 21 years of my life. I love it there. I miss living there. A move back to Magnolia would be the only thing to keep me living in Seattle (hope to be leaving for the eastern half of the state in the next year or two) but it's just too expensive there. My dad still lives there, as well my grandparents, so at least I still have reason to visit Magnolia!

My favorite neighborhood in Seattle is West Seattle, although West Seattle is a bunch of different neighborhoods. But the Alaska Junction neighborhood, the Admiral District, and Fauntleroy/Lincoln Park each are pretty and have a lot of charm. The Alaska Junction has a great walkability thing with nice restaurants and things to do, and West Seattle in general has nice views and gets good light.

Also, some very worthy contenders didn't make the list:
Madison Park is awfully nice, so is Ravenna. And so is the Lakewood/Seward Park area. It's not far from the Rainier Valley, but it's world's apart.

I like Queen Anne (both Lower and Upper Queen Anne), Greenlake and West Seattle (Alaska Junction and Admiral district).

Queen Anne for its convenient location, close proximity to downtown and infrastracture, West Seattle for great views and community and Greenlake reminds me a lot of Aasee in Muenster, Germany where I lived as a student.

I never lived in those neigborhoods, but I think all of them are family oriented areas (with the exception of Lower Queen Anne). Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I voted for Lake City because I was pretty sure nobody else would. It's where I first lived in Seattle and while it lacks some of the charm of the other neighborhoods, it is relatively inexpensive, has all goods and services ready at walking distance with good access to the Burke-Gilman Trail (from is a different story - that hill is TOUGH!) and about a 15-minute ride to downtown via the ST 522.

If I live in Seattle again, I'd like to try Ballard, Greenlake, Columbia City, Georgetown or West Seattle. Though I'd have no trouble choosing Lake City again if the logistics and price were right.

I knew I was missing a few, just couldn't dawn on me though as there are so many neighborhoods in Seattle. Dang! I love Madison Park too, use to spend a lot of time there in the summer down by the lake. Good place to swim on a hot day without having to leave town. Beautiful homes also.

I wish the editing options were more flexible for polls on C-D.

My favorite is West Seattle though. It has the city's best waterfront and views. To stand at Alki Point and see the downtown skyline, bay, Puget Sound, the mountains, the sunsets, bike riding and roller blading along the beach with the smell of salty air, it's the best.

I spent 5 years on Capital Hill. Probably the best "urban" neighborhood in Seattle in terms of walkability and density. It was a good place to hang out in my 20's but my tatstes have changed, If I moved back I'd definitely go back to West Seattle.
