You would likely enjoy Queen Anne - trendy, but not loud, some nice restaurants, easy access to 99. Or you might try South Lake Union - lots of development there in the past couple of years. West Seattle is nice, too, but there's the bridge to deal with (the C Line bus is really convenient and fast, though).

Gyms are everywhere, so it shouldn't be a problem.

How much space do you need? How much rent would you be comfortable with paying?

My sf range is 2200 to 3000, probably more towards the lower end. Rent range would be 1500-1900.

Good luck finding that sf for that rent range. Our mortgage is $2000/month for a tiny 1100 sq. ft. place. (and that's with a killer interest rate). Usually for a rent range of 1500-1900 in somewhere like Queen Anne or Capital Hill, you're talking an efficiency with more like 500-700 sq. ft.
If you want close to downtown in trendy areas, AND large sq. ft. like 2200-3000, you're gonna need to double or triple that rent range I think.
