Hi all,

What part of downtown Seattle is this and why so many parking lots? Will these be filled in with development anytime soon? They're kind of an eyesore and ruin the surrounding density.

Eyesore? "Ruin the surrounding density"? I think those old, rusty high-rises are the eyesore. But, whatever. Seattle isn't Manhattan, fortunately.

See that big crane on the right building that huge 37 story building?

That is going to be Amazon's new HQ.

3 of those blocks will be Amazon's new campus.

Wait 2 years....it will look totally different!

Um...seriously? You would prefer vacant parking lots over development? Wow. Move to Arkansas, dude.

I take it you're against Seattle becoming a word class city and would believe no development > development? Ok, sis.

That area used to be a lot of car dealerships and a couple of auto shops. Now i think only one auto shop is left, the rest of the property has been bought up and is currently being developed (the auto dealers moved to SODO).

And one of those buildings isn't a parking lot. it is Antioch University, a long two-story building which has a parking lot on its roof :-)

I just think it's incredibly petty.

I don't live in Seattle. I just meander in this forum sometimes. I'm sure Seattle can become a world-class city even with those insidious parking lots.

Like I said earlier....

Amazon is building the campus all over that area. I work down there.

For those of you clueless to Seattle development news, all of those lots are slated for high rise development for both office and residential use. In 5 years, the same photo will show dozens of 400-450 foot towers.
