My husband, myself and another couple have a trip planned to Seattle September 17th - 21st. We're planning to rent through VRBO and are looking for suggestions on neighborhoods or opinions on staying downtown. We're all 30/31 and are interested in a mix between tourist and non tourist activities. Planning to visit a few breweries, the public market, space needle and any other fun things that people may suggest!

Any recommendations or tolips are welcomed... neighborhoods and things to do.

Also, I think Oktoberfest may be that weekend in Freemont. Has anyone attended and is it fun?

I always suggest a walk-on to the Winslow ferry and back, or stopover for a coffee or lunch, do a morning getaway and an afternoon return to take advantage of the brilliant views of downtown. Park the car and save some money overall.

You should do the Pioneer Square Underground Tour instead of the Space Needle. Good nightlife in Capitol Hill, Ballard, and Belltown. Check out the Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar in Lower Queen Anne and adjacent Chihuly Museum in Seattle Center.

For a good VRBO, this place looks awesome with a great location: Pike/Pine Urban Oasis Unit A - VRBO

It's very close to the Elysian Brewery and You can easily walk to Pike between 12th and Broadway for some great nightlife!

Hard to tell what the weather will be like in later September. It could be great (Indian summer) or it could be, well... Best to have flexible plans, including both outdoors and indoors.

Some indoors attractions:

Art Museums: Seattle Art Museum (Downtown), Seattle Asian Art Museum (Capitol Hill), Frye Art Museum (Free/First Hill), Henry Art Gallery (UW Campus).

Other Museums: Museum of Flight, Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI/South Lake Union), Burke Natural History Museum (UW Campus), Klondike Gold Rush Museum (Free/Pioneer Square), Nordic Heritage Museum (Ballard), Wing Luke Museum (International District).

Seattle Center: Space Needle, Chihulyseum, Experience Music Project/Science Fiction Museum, Pacific Science Center.

Combinations: SAM & Pike Place Market, SAAM & Volunteer Park Conservatory, MOHAI & Wooden Boat Center, Underground Tour & Klondike Gold Rush Museum, Ballard Locks & Nordic Heritage Museum, Burke Museum/Henry Art Gallery & Cafe Allegro (Seattle's oldest coffee house), Wing Luke Museum & Uwajimaya (Japanese Supermarket/Eats).
