Has anyone gone floating on the Green River? It was a nice day today and I wanted to take my raft on the river - but didn't know enough to try risking it without better information. I'd like to put in at Flaming Geyeser (after the gorge) and pull out at SR-18.

Is the river floatable this time of year (i.e., have enough water in it to stay afloat) and is this something worth doing? If not, are there other sections (besides Green River Gorge - too much for me) or other rivers nearby to try floating?

Thanks...

The portion of the river you are asking about is passable. I floated it about 2 months ago and the one log jam that was in the way between Flaming Geyser and Hwy 18 is gone. There is still another Log Jam below 18 and it should not be attempted. If you get too close, you'll get sucked under and likely not come up.
We are floating this week again and will likely fish a little too.
Have fun,

Be careful!!!
My friend and I did that float today and there is a large log about half way. Flipped our kayak and could have turned out really badly. Two kayakers had just flipped there too and were able to help us.

The log spans the entire river.

Just a note, I know about the block AFTER the 18 bridge. This is different- this one is between the bridge and the state park

I love that "floatdude" is the person who first responded. How fantastic, I laughed out loud.

It should go without saying, but wear a life jacket.
