Where are all the AZ people in Seattle?
Just wanted to see how many people from AZ are out in Seattle---I mentioned I am moving from AZ to Seattle in other posts---but just wanted to see how many are out there to talk and ask questions too--see how they are liking Seattle
I am originally from Niagara Falls, but currently living in Phoenix.
Soooooo where are you all at>>>??? Hope to hear from you!

I'm here. I still love Washington more than Arizona. Only miss a few things like Monsoon season. Any other questions?

Yeah, I moved backed! Let me just say that I hate Arizona even more now....
I'm moving back (for the second time) to Bellevue or Renton, hopefully, first quarter next year. Heck, maybe even in January if things go right.

I think it's fair to write that some people that move from AZ love it here (see above) and some do not (see the first post on this controversial thread http://www.city-data.com/forum/seatt...-am-ready.html)
I think if you can handle the weather and you're not an extrovert, you may like it quite a lot. Certainly there are regional 'cultures' all over this country. I've never lived in AZ so I am not sure what the prevailing culture tends toward. I think if it is more demonstrative and people are direct and someone moves from there and expects that here, I can imagine he or she would be really disappointed and want to move back.

I'm wondering why would "not being an extrovert" be a quality that would make Seattle more appealing. Hm?

Using the Myers Briggs definition of extroverts, they get energy from being around other people. According to one website I found
"Extraversion draw energy from action: they tend to act, then reflect, then act further. If they are inactive, their level of energy and motivation tends to decline.
Conversely, those whose preference is Introversion become less energized as they act: they prefer to reflect, then act, then reflect again. People with Introversion preferences need time out to reflect in order to rebuild energy. The Introvert's flow is directed inward toward concepts and ideas and the Extravert's is directed outward towards people and objects. There are several contrasting characteristics between Extraverts and Introverts: Extraverts desire breadth and are action-oriented, while introverts seek depth and are thought-oriented." See Myers-Briggs Type Indicator: Information from Answers.com
Seattle's culture is very much in line with an introverted style as described above. I've lived here 18 years total and I will tell you, most extroverts I've known have moved away because they needed more energy and needed a more varied social life. That is not a slam against Seattle in the least. I don't think you can make a value judgment regarding extroversion or introversion. There are just differences in how people interact with the world. Better to know yourself and find a place that fits you well so that you can be yourself!
Also, see The United States of Mind - WSJ.com
Check out the interactive graphics and see how Washington ranks #48 out of 51 for extroversion while AZ ranks 24.
