My husband has just gotten a job in Seattle. We have 3 children and are looking for a place to live with good schools, neighborhoods, and something with a "community" feel within a larger city. Any suggestions?

"Community" like suburbs and family things to do - or more urban? What is your definition of "good schools"?

And most importantly are you buying or renting and how much is your budget? That's a bigger determinate.

We are thinking about renting initially and then buying. We can afford up to $2000/month to spend on housing. As far as schools, I want to make sure my kids don't go to schools with high fail and drop out rates. I would like their test scores to be above average. I would also like to be near a nice park, some pretty scenery, and shopping. I'm pretty easy to please...coming from Louisiana, I think everything in the Pacific Northwest is beautiful.

My husband and I are thinking of buying a house, so we've been researching the schools in and around Seattle. The websites I use to research are School Digger, Seattle Times School Guide (http://community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/schoolguide - broken link) and Great Schools. This might help you find good schools.

Bellevue WA would be one good choice for families in this area. Rent $2000 is more than enough. But it depends on where you husband is working. Always a good idea to live close to work.

Normandy Park in Seattle has a strong community feel and good schools also.

Good luck.
