Planning a long weekend around the Nebraska-UDub game in September. Staying downtown somewhere near the light rail stop. Won't be renting a car. We're in our late 30s, no kids.

Looking for some suggestions on eclectic fine dining unique to Seattle in and around downtown within walking distance or easy transit (again, no car). Price isn't really an issue, but let's keep it based somewhere in reality - $200 for dinner and wine for two isn't unreasonable if the quality is there. Maybe something that really features the area's seafood and/or Asian influences. Also looking for good brunch/lunch spots. Please no chains or $60 filet chop house places. We have those out the wazzoo in Omaha.

Would like a good suggestion for bars/lounges for happy hour and after dinner. We're self-admitted wine and beer snobs, and we don't want to deal with the 20-something frat holdout crowd. A good live music venue would be a plus.

Any neighborhoods in or immediately around downtown we should avoid for safety reasons?

Thanks for your input in advance.

Downtown is pretty safe, seems like Belltown and Pioneer Square would be your best bet.

For seafood downtown, I'd go to Blueacre Seafood at 1700 7th avenue, 7th and Olive. It's not a place to save money, but it is insanely good.
Other good choices for seafood not downtown but not too far are Palisade, with not only good food but spectacular surroundings, near the Elliott Bay Marina ( Magnolia neighborhood, 10 minute cab ride from downtown) and Rays Boathouse on Shilshole in Ballard, a Seattle institution and about a 15-20 minute cab ride from downtown.

Nebraska fan? Well, there are a couple of Sonic drive-ins, but they are WAY out in the 'burbs. All in good fun.

Locker and the Dawgs in '10!

I'd go to Etta's for salmon and see what's playing at the Triple Door. If you like Jazz, Jazz Alley is popular.

Ira500: Thanks! Blueacre looks intriguing and right in line with what we were looking for. I think we'll try them for lunch. Ray's looks great, too... we'll see if we're in the mood for a cab ride.

Any thoughts on Wild Ginger? It looks pretty interesting.

Sorry for the sarcastic "Sonic" reference. But I love stereotypes, I can't help myself.

Real reason for replying: Wild Ginger is fantastic! Have a good visit. Even if you most probably will be on the short end of the score.

Our favorite happy hours - Anthony's (next to Ray's in Shilshole - great prices, great staff, great views) and Cutters near Pike Place.

Get thee up from downtown to Capitol Hill. You could walk to Tango, or cab to an ever-evolving roster of fantastic restaurants:
Quinn's
Lark
Anchovies & Olives
Cascina Spinasse....

it's really an endless list. Check out Seattleweekly.com - they have a great section ("Voracious") that will give you a good selection with descriptions.

For the game - take a boat to Husky Stadium! Get tickets from Chinooks in Ballard... no better experience that you can have as a visiting fan.

Great suggestions again. Thanks.

Any handy places to watch games near the stadium right before and after the NU beatdown of the Huskies?
