The chicken littles have just been wrong, admit it.

Yes, irrational thinking and faulty logic is EXTREMELY common in the prepper community. Just listen to the excuses in this thread after claims get proved wrong with actual provable FACTS.

Can we at least have a fact based discussion or will keep hearing denials from the uninformed?
You are incredibly disingenuous.

You want to discuss facts? Then let's do that. There are three conditions which must be satisfied:

1] the Solar Flare must be an X-Class Flare ---- there are 4 different classes of Solar Flares with X-Class being the most powerful (A, B, C, M and X Classes); and

2] the X-Class Solar Flare must be greater than X15 --- All Solar Flares are ranked/ordered by magnitude; and

3] the X-Class Solar Flare >X15 must be accompanied by a proton storm with the average energies of the protons being greater than 30 MeV (Million Electron Volts).

Those are the three conditions that must be met.....and those conditions have been repetaedly mentioned and discussed, in nauseating detail, supported by peer-reviewed articles published in major scientific journals.

Much of the information I have presented is from:

THE 1859 SOLAR–TERRESTRIAL DISTURBANCE AND THE CURRENT LIMITS OF EXTREME SPACE WEATHER ACTIVITY

E. W. Cliver, Space Vehicles Directorate, Air Force Research Laboratory, Hanscom AFB, Massachusetts

L. Svalgaard, Solar-Terrestrial Environment Laboratory, Nagoya University, Honohar, Toyokawa, Aichi, Japan

Solar Physics (2004) 224: 407–422

Anyway, there is a fourth condition which I no doubt assumed that people who could think for themselves could figure out, and that is the Solar Flare must strike Earth --- yeah, that would be the Spherical Geometry thing that I often rail about.

To kill your thread, we need only actually read the links you provided, starting with MSNBC....

"X-class solar flares are the most powerful types of solar storms. When aimed directly at Earth, these major solar events can pose a danger to astronauts and satellites in space, as well as interfere with radio and GPS navigation signals.

The X3.2 solar flare is the most powerful yet seen this year and the third-strongest sun storm of the current 11-year solar cycle, called Solar Cycle 24. The second strongest was an X5.4 solar flare in 2012, while the largest event was an X6.9 flare in 2011. So far, there have been 18 X-class solar flares in Solar Cycle 24."

So......"The X3.2 solar flare is the most powerful yet seen this year..."

....is X3.2 greater than or less than X15?

Um, the answer is "less than."
Before any would-be wanna be Debunkers post any more nonsense, they ought to find out if the X-Class Solar Flare is >X15, and if it is, then determine if it is accompanied by a proton storm, and if it is, then is the average energies greater than 30 MeV and if it is, uh, you know, is it actually heading toward Earth?

Not impressed....

What a joke OP.
Thank you for bringing common sense, logic, reason and balance to an otherwise idiotic thread by someone who has no critical thinking skills and is unable to educate themselves on the subject.

Repping...
