I'm in Missouri CCS classes take 8 hours. Online classes from Virginia only take 90 minutes and are good in Missouri. Looking for comments for the pros and cons about taking the online course.
Just verify it meets MO laws. The course requirement is the standard 8 hours, but if given by a law enforcement agency of any or is part of firearm practical training, the course can be shorter. The difference is the safety portion can be shorter than 8 hours because it's part of a more comprehensive training where the equivalent of 8 hours is within the whole program. If a standalone, I believe the 8 hour rule still applies.
Example, if taking a peace office training program in Nevada, the firearm specific safety course is maybe 2 hours because it's part of a more comprehensive training where safety is continually intermixed in the training. So although the safety course specifics were only 2 hours, it totals at least 8 hours of safety training through the entire 800+ hours of training.
Now if you take VA online course and have VA CWP, MO will accept that online course because you hold a valid out of state permit. So, just verify that that specific course as it stands will be accepted.
I'd rather take full 8 hrs class... The more you know about CC laws, the more chances you ain't ending up in jail. And the more practice you get, the more chances you ain't dead (or in jail for shooting bystanders).

Live fire is best. However I have issues with that in CCW courses too. I've seen too many untrained people trying to qualify with little to no skill or safety training.
Our classes in AZ we do two levels. One is a "legal aspects" class that exceeds the state standards to obtain our permit. There is no shooting in that class - because I can't / won't give people a 2 minute "how to shoot and gun and qualify" class.
For those who need or want firearm skills we do a 6 hour basic pistol class on a 2nd day. About 2 hours in the classroom and 3 on the range. That way they learn proper gun safety, handling, cleaning, and have time to shoot enough rounds to gain basic skills.
Ideally you should take the NRA three class Basic Pistol and Personal Protection series, a total of 4 class days. This will provide the foundational skill set you need if you are going to carry a gun. From there you really need additional training in fighting skills from places like Gunsite, Front Sight, ICE, Suarez, etc.
Online classes from Virginia only take 90 minutes and are good in Missouri.
Why are you even considering this???
We are all pressed for time, but do you really want just 90 minutes of training? Don't you find learning about firearms, and trying live fire, enjoyable? If not, why do you even want the permit? Eight hours is really not much time, but if you enjoy firearms topics enough to get a CCW, you should look forward to this time.
Unless there's more you're not telling us, you should be questioning your own motivations.
