There is no one measure that will stop this, but until sufficient physical barriers (walls, fences, etc) are in place to stop 99% of them, all other measures will fail. The minor little fence they tunneled under in AZ is, and has been for years, an advertisement to the world that we need a barrier like Trump wants. Even the fence along the AZ border, half of the size Trump wants, has been reported to be 94% effective by the Border Patrol.
That is why I will not discuss ANYTHING about immigration, until the wall is built. Trump originally asked for $25B for just under 1000 miles, and is now proposing $5B, so he has already met the Demoncrats 80% of the way, and they want more.
I don't think $25B or 1000 miles is enough, and since illegal immigration already costs us far, far, more than $5B a year, building it will already be at Mexico's expense.
Trouble is, Leftists are not interested in negotiating, since their masters actually desire the destruction of our nation, and their minions and useful idiots know nothing except who will give them the biggest handout. Oh, yeah, and they know they must not let people like us, who know the truth have a fair opportunity to express ourselves, or live our lives without their interference.
So much time and energy is being focused on whether to build a wall or not build a wall and whether you are for it or against it the elephant in the room that doesn't get much air time is that the number of illegals getting apprehended at the border each year is a dam big number.
Party affiliation can't twist the facts in anyone's favor that the number of illegals that number between 300,000 and 500,000 are getting apprehended at the border by US customs each year.
Using any number of search engines will give you the same numbers...........it is not a left or right agenda. It is a stone cold fact that we are catching, processing, documenting and housing a half million a year.
If you don't want he wall how do you reduce these numbers and if you do want the wall is logistically possible to build a tunnel proof, damage proof wall that won't break the budget over such and enormous length.
Past years have seen higher numbers getting caught so that reflects a drop in numbers of those getting caught now. The numbers of those that make it through are a lot more skewered.

Another stat is the number of illegals in the US has leveled off at about 10 million, down from 12 million in 2007. Many of them are seasonal workers taking advantage of the high wages for field work, which averages $17/hour. Farmers are also desperate for labor, faced with letting their crops rot in the field if they can't find workers. They will provide shelter, as much protection from La Migra as possible, and will pay the workers in cash if they don't have a work visa. When the harvest is over, the workers go back to Mexico to live on savings.
Some illegals find long term employment doing yard work, as house servants, etc. Some work for the big drug cartels distributing recreational drugs. Some are prostitutes. All of them keep a low profile, reflected in the fact that the border crime rate is lower than the general US crime rate. Personally, I don't believe that is because there is less crime. Rather, an illegal can't call the cops if they are the victim of a crime, so it never gets reported.

It will not be so bad, if the only country we had to dealt with was Mexico, but there are about 23 countries in South America, that can get to the USA through Mexico......that is the biggest problem....
