You give out free food at ANY place, and people are going to act like savages. I'm convinced that some people go there just to get a free lunch.
Central Market on the weekends is a better place to do that. My gawd...the way the store is arranged if someone in your vicinity stops for a sample, it causes a traffic jam.
It's annoying but I solved that problem...I don't shop at Central Market on weekends anymore.
Stupid, oblivious people do this everywhere. I push my cart to the edge of the aisle when I have to stop for more than a few seconds but rarely see anyone else do it. It should be common sense.
What is the matter with people who can't just say "Excuse me" and wait two seconds for the person to move? Maybe it's because I live in a small town and our nearest Costco is 45 minutes away in an even smaller town, but I've never had a problem with politely reminding someone I need to get past them.

It's more of the people who live in the area. If they are my way or the highway, then you know what to expect.

We had a whole family block an isle just today, and had to say "excuse me" to get them to move. Only the polite 14-15 year old girl said "sorry."
It was enough for a light lunch though, if you passed by again and had seconds. At about 20 degrees it was too cold to stand in line for the hot dog deal.
We had:
Little Smokies in biscuit dough
Tilapia
Granola bar
Several kinds of (really good) cheese
Cup of Starbucks bottled frappuccino to wash it down
