This is Nordstroms and not part of a multilabeled federated department store company. Call the store or call Hicky Freeman. Quality clothing comes with quality service.
So your solution to a worn pocket was to cut it out instead of taking the garment to a good tailor for repair? If I were the decision-maker at Nord's I'd be suspicious about the care of the garment during the past two years. maybe your husband threw it in the washing machine, set on "heavy duty" or something, and that's possibly the real problem. you can try to pull this off, but it seems wrong.

Two years ago, my husband bought a $1200 Hickey Freeman suit at Nordstrom, on sale for $800. It has been the worst suit he has ever purchased. The trouser pocket frayed so badly he had to cut it out. The waistband is shot and coming unbound.
Suits are supposed to last longer than this, yes? Is it reasonable for me to try to return it? There's a part of me that just wants to let them know our bad experience with this very expensive brand. I don't have the original tags, but American Express is sending me the statement the charge is on.
Thoughts? Besides expensive isn't always better?
I know this company doesn't sell suits but if you bought your clothes at L.L. Bean, they would take it back if you were unsatisfied two years later. They firmly believe that if the customer expects the clothing to last longer than what it did, (in this case, suits should last longer than two years), they will take it back.
They don't even question if you laundered it wrong or tore it yourself, they accept that you, as the customer, are being honest and you want quality clothes. They don't want you to have something you are not satisfied with.
They've been around for a very long time with this attitude and more companies might do well to follow. Stop treating the customers like they are a bunch of liars, treat them with respect and show honor in what you sell.
I do NOT think it's outlandish or obnoxious or unreal to expect a suit to last longer than 2 years NOR do I think it is wrong to ask to return it when it didn't last as long.
Doesn't help you with the suit but maybe for your other clothes so you don't have to come across this disgusting customer service attitude you have seen on this thread.
Nordstrom is the Lexus of retailers. Ask anyone who owns any year Lexus if they ever had a negative reaction to anything when dealing with a Lexus Dealership.
