How large? By the pallets?
Usually I don't buy any large quantities of anything. I guess buying a pack of 24 rolls of toilet paper is probably the largest purchase I ocassionally make. At Aldi, so it's cheap, although not on sale.
I am not a compulsive buyer, and some "sales" are questionable. A really great sale of a high quality product I frequently buy might be a temptation, though.

Not only on regular sale items, but I've learned when my local grocery store marks down the meat that is coming up to its "sell by" date every week.

I roll in with my shopping cart and load it up with the meats that were marked down significantly.

The trick is to getting it into the freezer before the sell by date, not just into the fridge.

Thank goodness for large freezers and bulk purchasing!

Meat might not save us money because we have had so many power outages in the last few years. I do not want to pay to feed the skunks!

Toilet paper is a good example of something that I will grab when on sale; especially if it's my brand (the soft stuff). Generally there is a limit at the stores I shop and they will only allow us four. Of course we can go back as many times as we want; but too much toilet paper and I might not be able to get to the toilet! Everything has limits!

Hmm not really. Define large quanities. Like Costco size or just a few more than normal? Also depends on how good the sale is.

The only time I actually try to wait for a sale to stock up is BIG LOTS' 20% off everything sale that they have every few mos. I stock up on paper towels & toilet tissue. I'll occasionally go to that store even when there's not a sale if I really need something there & can't wait for the sale.
