Does anyone know where some discount stores are? My daughter said if we came down here we should look for the store called ROSES--We found the Goodwill in Cornelius and Salvation Army- Does anyone know of any others??

A bit slow here. Just saw where you are. Try placing this in the N. Carolina forum...

I am not sure about your area in North Mecklenburg but Matthews had just a bunch of these discount stores. You may want to do a search for discount stores in North Carolina. You can also go to your local library and probably find a book on Factory and discount shopping in North Carolina. Just ask you librarian and she (or he) can help you.

When we go to the mountains, I am thinking there is an entire outlet shopping center right off I-77.

Roses stores used to be on the corner in almost every small town. Then came Walmart. There are still a few of them around. Some other stores if you want to look in your telephone book are Big lots, Michaels. Better yet, just look for discount stores in your yellow pages.

Have you tried Value City in Charlotte? It's somewhat hit or miss, but when I lived there I used to swing by every once in a while. I got some great shoe deals there. Also the outlet mall in Gaffney, SC was pretty good.

The only Roses I know about is in Belmont and it's probably ready to go under since WalMart moved in. Dollar General and Family Dollar are still around but you have to watch them. They aren't always much of a discount.

I know about the $ stores, they really are not much of a discount, but the one on the same road as the Walmart, I think its the family dollar store, anyway that not real bad, like you said --you just have to watch. It reminds me of the one up in Beacon NY.
I don"t really like the one next to Walmart- things are way to small there(especially their clothing detergents).
