When we moved to North Carolina we began renting a green home full of amenities. Our rent includes
cable. Our landlords have a contract with Morris Broadband . We haven't heard from Dish for 6 mo. then with a 48 hour E-mail window charged us $182.00 !!! Have no idea what that charge represents since all modems were returned ( 5) and we had cable disconnected. They offered "pause" in case we wanted torebook up Dish in NC, but we cannot. Now they want $240.00 to cancel!!! This seems to be a consumer scam where unreasonable fees are charged when my hands are tied by our rental scenario. Previous court records have been in favor of the plaintiff ( consumer). Should I pursue an attorney?? I have previously been helped by OIG. There are 4,400 complaints regarding Dish just in one website dealing with rip offs. Their tactics need to be investigated. I'm a partially disabled vet on limited income and this is a major setback for us.
If you were still under your original contract with Dish back in NC, and you stopped service before the contract was up, you would have an early cancellation fee. Other than that, I can't think of why you would owe anything.
