Smooth Away, hair removal (gift, used, work)

I really wanted to try this product. I really wanted it to work. I didn't get it for Christmas in my stocking as I'd requested, so I picked it up a couple weeks later as a New Year's gift to myself.

It didn't do a good job on my legs, though the skin felt smoother.

It did an AWESOME job on my upper lip and chin area. I don't have a lot of hairs (I was born blonde), but as I age, I get dark ones that really stand out against my light complexion.

My top lip and chin were ultra smooth, better even than waxing!

But now, I have painful, ugly ingrown hairs (7 at last count).

I'd rather pluck.

Depending on one's skin complexion, and their hair situation, I can see the possibility of ingrown hairs.

The Smoothaway, for me, works pretty good on the forearm area. There used to be a hand-held, battery and/or plug-in model that you'd attach one of those pads to and it'd do the work of rotating instead of you continously exercising your arm muscles. It wasn't as quiet or time-consuming as doing it by hand. Forgot what they called it. You couldn't put too much pressure or concentrate in one particular area for too long unless you wanted an awfully red, irritated patch of skin. Big OUCH. At least with the hand, you can exercise your arm muscles some and better gauge the pressure and time spent on each section of the body where you are trying to whisk the hairs away.

Thank you so much for this post! I almost went out and bought one.....for those occasional chin and upper lip hairs. I, too, was born blonde, but as I get older, I'm getting some stiff silver ones and fine blonde ones.....but only occasionally a dark one....I hate plucking and waxing won't get the silver ones. Guess I'm going to have to continue to pluck! I so appreciate your post!
