Well, I used mine today. Dried 3 loads. Don't think it cut drying time at all. And as far as I could tell, it did nothing else. Except like others have already stated, make quite a racket in the dryer.
MeganAK, when you say disintegrated, do you mean that slowly bits of plastic were getting onto your clothes? Gosh, I would hate that.
No, they just started cracking and broke into pieces, I had to throw them away. But they DID get out static so that i didn't have to use dryer sheets.
I don't use any fabric softener at all because I am allergic. Not interested in dryer balls. I keep a can of Static Guard in the house and give everyone's outfits a quick spray each morning. I probably don't go through more than a few cans a year, so it's less than $10 a year, which is way cheaper than fabric softener or two sets of dryer balls.
I had never heard of washer balls. Anyway, the dryer balls are going back to the store. They do nothing for static. Maybe I need to get a brand name not generic, but I'm not going down this road again.
Keeping the lint filter clean will make your dryer dry as it was designed to..A dirty filter will slow down the drying time...
