Everybody leaves a tournament disappointed, except the final winner of course. Yes they didn't play well against Costa Rica.

The USMNT plays 24th ranked Morocco on June 1 in a friendly match. It will take place in the new soccer-specific TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, which can seat 26,000. This match is in preparation for the World Cup in November. The US has never beaten Morocco, so it should be a good challenge.

USMNT 3 -- Morocco 0

It was a decently entertaining match, although I was surprised by the number of yellow cards for a friendly.

Next up is the Uruguay match on June 5. Uruguay is ranked no. 13, compared to no. 23 for Morocco.

The Uruguay match ended in a scoreless draw, which, considering the opponent, isn't the worst result.

First half was a true test and good match. Got all disjointed in the final 30. Strong performance tho imo

Yes, the USMNT looks to have a pretty effective counter, and their press has become decent. The defense is still too disorganized at times though. Perhaps that's the price of a 4-3-3? Great goalkeeping as always.

The next match is June 10 against Grenada, as part of the CONCACAF Nations League.

Agreed on the defense, but I think that it is what it is at this point. CB and Striker look like they will be question marks going into Qatar. That said, I think as a group they have the potential to be compact defensively against better teams (say, the England match) and then be able to hit on the counter. What worries me is that, while I think the USMNT is slightly better than Wales, all a guy like Bale needs is a single slip-up and the ball ends up in the back of the net. That is where that inconsistent backline organization is worrisome.

Next up for the USMNT are a pair of friendly matches in September. They play Japan on 9/23 at a location TBD, then Saudi Arabia on 9/27 in Spain. These are prep matches for the World Cup in November; all three teams are participating in the event, although in different groups. "Lucky" Japan gets to face Germany, Spain, and Costa Rica. Fun times.

I hope that the Saudi team can be a decent proxy for Iran. I was hoping for South Korea instead of Japan. They have an elite player in Son who can really challenge our backline and Adams like Bale will.

Congratulations to the US men's U-20 team for winning the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship for the third time in a row. They defeated the Dominican Republic 6-0 and looked really good doing it, at least in this level of competition. They have also secured a place in the 2023 FIFA Under-20 World Cup and 2024 Olympics. Now we'll see how well they do against the top U-20 teams.

Mexico used to dominate this tournament, but they seem to have fallen on hard times of late.
