I've searched and could not quite find exactly what I was looking for.
My wife and I are moving from North Charleston to Hartsville. We currently have two cars and pay $1300 a year for car insurance.
Everything in Hartsville, up to this point, has been cheaper -- home insurance, utilities, property taxes, to name a few things.
Our auto insurance will be going up a couple of hundred dollars a year, which was quite a shock to us. We figured moving away from a large city (with elevated crime rates) would lower our car insurance costs. We won't be driving as much either, which should factor into the cost.
I'm certainly not complaining about paying more, because we make up for it in other areas, but I am wondering why it is more expensive in this small town.
