but how is the "teaching" different? Having no union has nothing to do with teaching, nor does the parents using the school as a daycare. That is being done all over the US, esp in many poor areas and urban city schools here up North too.

but what specifically is different teaching, it isnt different in mt pleasant

Islandtown:
Bishop England is a great private school on Daniel island

Default Teacher wishing to transfer to SC

What about transfer benefits? I'd like to transfer from a high school in South Florida to one in Aiken SC. How difficult is it to find teaching jobs in that area (IT/business/computer related) - either high school or even adjunct at one of the junior or technical colleges? I have a MS and will have Nat'l Board Certification by then.

Do they credit you with years teaching or do you have to start all over at step one? What about pension benefits - again are you able to apply previous teaching time to a pension?

We own land in Aiken and are looking forward to moving there within the next 5 years if we are lucky and can sell our house here (S FL). It would be great if I could get a teaching job there - otherwise I'll have to take early retirement.

Any advice?

If you're thinking about that area you might want to look at Fort Mill Schools. www.fort-mill.k12.sc.us. You can go online to my website to look at property and get an idea what you'd expect to pay for a home in Fort Mill. It's a very nice community just south of Charlotte. Let me know if I can help.

my sister in law came from NYC to teach in Fort Mill and she hates it. She is moving back to NY this summer and never looking back.
