Hello... My husband and I are considering moving south... We're in KY right now and are looking for a warmer, coastal, SAFE city for our family (We have 2 kids ages 9 and 7)... I'm an RN and my husband is in school to become a CAD designer.
We do not want to live in a large city but would like to be close enough to fun activities and specially the beach.
If anybody has any suggestion of cities or neighborhoods I would greatly appreciate.

Georgetown is a lovely, small, historic coastal town that isn't too far from the Myrtle Beach or Charleston areas. Beaufort is also a very lovely, historic town on the mainland near Hilton Head Island. A small bonus with the 2nd town is proximity to good shopping, etc in Bluffton (another town to consider), which is between Beaufort and Hilton Head by car. Good luck!

A lot depends on price range when talking about living in a coastal city IMO. Depending on what you are looking to spend on real estate, a great suggestion would be Mount Pleasant, SC--nice suburb of Charleston with family-friendly neighborhoods, nice area, etc.

A little less expensive but a popular family destination is Summerville, SC - another rapidly growing suburb north of Charleston (a little farther from the beach but really only like 30 minutes).
